Many people show up to airports to begin their trip with no idea
where they are going. Sure they know that their final destination
is Chicago or Denver. Perhaps, they even know what airline they
are flying on. But, when they walk through those revolving doors
they have no idea where Concourse A is.

Most airports have websites with maps of the airport that you can
look at and or print off. Familiarity will help you know how to get
the ticket counter you need to check in at. It can also help to
know where baggage carousels, pick up and drop off zones, and
gate areas are. Where this really becomes valuable is if you have
to make a connection through a large airport. Granted you can just
try to follow signs or wander around until you find the right gate.
However, if you only have twenty minutes to make your
connection in Atlanta; you better know where you are going and
how far you have to go for that connecting gate to Orlando.

What happens if you forget to look in advance or lose your map?
Well, there are still a few intelligent options left to you. First,
check your magazines in the seat backs on the planes. Usually,
they have maps of major airports in them. If not, ask an airline
representative when you step off the plane. They should be able
to point you in the right direction.

If you think ahead and plan, you set yourself up for success. If you
don't you definitely stand a chance to misconnect, get lost, and
possibly look foolish.
