A big part of getting somewhere is knowing where you are going in the first place. I don't mean "hey I'm going to Aspen for some righteous slopes." I'm talking about getting to the right ticket counter for your flight. Very rarely can you go check in anywhere without standing in a long line for awhile. So, lets not subject ourselves to that for no reason. When you make your reservation read the fine print about who is operating the flight you are going out on. You may buy a ticket with Delta but the flight is operated by Pinnacle, which means you will be flying out on a Northwest operated plane. So, if you try to check in with Delta they are gonna look at you all goofy and send you to the back of the Northwest line. (Just quick note, Delta and Northwest have merged. So this specific example will no longer happen, however situations like this will continue to exist.) Airlines have seats reserved on other carriers that they can sell and this can make things confusing. Just make sure to check who is operating the flight and you should be alright. Connection carriers can be confusing too. Say you find out that your flight is operated by Pinnacle but you have no idea who operates that connection carrier. This means that you need to plan ahead and do the research to see who it is that: Skywest, Jetlink, or Atlantic Southeast flies for. Usually a simple Google search will yield what you need. However, some fly for multiple airlines. Skywest for example flies for both United and Delta. If in doubt call reservations and ask who need to check in with. There are enough lines to stand in when you fly so, don't do it if you don't need to. Unless that's what floats or boat, or should I say what flys your plane. Travel Safe, Travel Smart . . .
