While in flight you can take small measures to avoid cramping and stiffness that result from sitting still for a long time. There may not be much room for movement, especially if you are on a smaller aircraft, however you can try these tricks. Roll your head around in a circular motion. Start off from the right and roll it towards your back, left shoulder, and then chin down to your chest. Make circular rotations with your shoulders. Lean your body forward and back a few times. Try to do some these motions every fifteen minutes or so. This may not make you a friends with the passenger next to you but, it will help you leave the aircraft in less pain. You can also get up and walk around the cabin at allowed times. This will help get the blood flowing and work out the muscles in your lower extremities. If you think in advance, a light workout at home or the gym a day before the flight can help immensely. One thing is for sure, the longer the flight the worse off you will be when it lands if you don't try to employ some of these tips. Travel Safe, Travel Smart . . . Get Somewhere! |
